Overview

Download the correct launcher for your operating system: Windows users download Tequila, the official launcher for CoH: Homecoming Mac users download Island Rum. (The next few following steps are the manual configuration needed for Windows users, so if you're playing on Mac, skip down to the section 'Installing on Mac'.). In the first window, you have to choose whether you want to start the game in the main universe (City of Heroes Freedom) or in the alternative universe in the spirit of Injustice (City of Heroes Going Rogue). Going Rogue offers slightly higher quality content up to level 20, after which your character is sent to the main universe. The latest version of City of Heroes is 1.0 on Mac Informer. It is a perfect match for Roleplay in the Games category. The app is developed by NC Interactive.

How to Install

  • Download the DMG file: FTP Site[1]
  • Double-click the DMG file to 'mount' it (it acts like its own little hard drive) [2]
  • Double-click the disk image to open it
  • Drag the app to the Applications folder [3]
  • After launching the app, it connects to the updater and downloads content, just like the Windows version.

Notes

  • For those who were beta testing, Ghost Falconposted instructions on how to turn your beta installation into a live installation. (These instructions can be reversed to change a live install into a test install.)
  • The client will be available at no extra cost (as a download) for anyone that has an active CoH Account.
  • Those who use the Mac Client will connect to the same servers as those connecting with the PC Client.
  • It is not actually a full client written natively for the Mac; it is a 'wrapper' program like Wine and CrossOver, but more specialized.
